I inherited my passion for food from my grandmother. Both my parents loved food and we were always well fed but we were not eating healthy foods. I realised that what I ate had a big influence on my health; mentally and physically. That epiphany sent me on journey of food discoveries that also became a joyful way to express myself.
My last 20 years found me devoting most of my time to food. That began with me as the owner of a small country hotel (with an almond orchard) in Riebeek Kasteel, where the focus was on slow food. Thereafter, I moved to Knysna where i began numnum, a wonderful wholefood shop. I was nominated for Best Food & Produce in the Western Cape by Eat Out Magazine in 2010 and was invited to Turin in Italy by Slow Food as a guest at the Terre Madre’ Event.
For years, I presented Wholefood, Raw and Medicinal Food Workshops in the Garden Route. In 2014, I travelled to various countries (Japan, Spain, Bali & India) to sample new foods and recipes as well as fulfill my own spiritual journey. I now live in Cape Town.
Eating more raw foods, also called living foods, is detoxifying and a wonderful way to open up and connect to who we really are. We are living in a time where information is available but we seem to get confused on what to eat and, even more so, how to simply implement it in our daily lives.
We literally become our food and our food become us.
